Nutrition
When it comes to a nutritionally sound food product, Vermont Peanut Butters are second to none. We carefully took the time to have our products scrutinized by Registered Dieticians and Nutritionists. Wendy Hess RD, CDE (whose client list consists of Lake Champlain Chocolates, Barilla, Trapp Family Lodge and Costco to name a few), was integral in adjusting our information to meet FDA guidelines and so we could feel confident that what you read on our labels is what you get. Too many products on today's market go unchecked and are misleading. The Vermont Peanut Butter Company's goal is to provide a super healthy, simply decadent, fun and accountable food for you and your family.
Our nine flavors all have 100% Whey Protein Isolate added to provide additional, natural, healthy & pure protein. Our Plain Creamy and Chunky peanut butters do not. We wanted those to just be what they should...Dry roasted,USA grown peanuts a little sea salt for taste...period. We also do not add any refined sugar, preservatives or other yucky and unnecessary chemicals to our products. The pinch of salt we use is a Low Sodium 100% natural sea salt. The sodium in our nut butters is so low it is virtually sodium free. If you are a vegetarian, you will be happy to know our products do not have lactose except for the "trace" (1gram or less) of lactose found in whey. Our products are all gluten free and contain NO trans fats and NO hydrogenated oils!
Biological Value
Eggs vs. Whey Isolate
Vermont Peanut Butter is a Protein Superstar! Biological Value is the proportion of protein our body absorbs from that particular protein source. With a BV of 93.7%,eggs have long been thought of as the gold standard for protein, but the whole egg can be high in fat, cholesterol and are the highest allergenic of all proteins!
Egg whites are a good protein source, but are nutrient dead and in powdered form are expensive and may not fit a vegetarian diet. Whey isolate's BV comes in at 100% and has been called the "perfect protein", by many. Hey, who wants eggs in their peanut butter anyway.... let's leave eggs for toast and coffee shall we.
Try some sliced apples on whole grain with our yummy MAPLE WALNUT PEANUT BUTTER or bananas and a little honey with our BANANA NUT CRUNCH......a superstar indeed!
